Analog Vibes: Photo Gallery
I used to work in Silom so I know what it’s like. Crowded, dingy and smelly, I rarely come here voluntarily. But there’s one reason I would set foot here for: Photo Gallery.
This vintage camera and film shop is hidden inside Thaniya Plaza, a maze of a mall, frequented by Japanese golfers, with escalators that would only go up, not down. Blended among golfing stores on the 4th floor, you wouldn’t notice it if you weren’t intentionally looking for it.
It’s not really a gallery but their selection of vintage gear could put the shop on par with a museum. Prices are not exactly affordable but judging from the condition of the stuff on sale here, the prices are justified. This is also where I get my Ilford developing chemicals. Although a bit more on the expensive side, the convenience more than makes up for it.
The owners are also friendly, honest and helpful, and willing to let you look and try out the gear without pressuring you to buy. Their stock is updated frequently so it’s good to keep track of their Facebook updates.
It’s definitely a little gem within a dump of an area so if you ever find yourself in Silom, do stop by for a browse and a roll or two.
